Exploring potential layouts
(1st attempt)

I started with 2 versions of layout which emulate my layout model:

  • three-column-based

  • header and footer across all three columns

  • how many column one graph occupies depends on how complicated the graph is and how important it is.

I also tried to use title with numbers to direct viewer's order of reading (not sure whether it will be effective)

Critique Feedback

1st Layout:

Feedback 1: general flow is logical, the order of 3 and 4 is somewhat confusing.

Feedback 2: the color scheme seems to fit and the style/feeling is consistent throughout the infographic . The problem is that: because most of the infographic uses more subtle/ neutral color, the colored parts stand out and immediately attract attention.

Feedback 3: 3-column-layout makes the graphs that occupy one column really small. And because these graphs are all relatively complicated diagram, small size does not fit.

Feedback 4: font size is relative small, hard to read.

Feedback 5: not sure where to start, and in what order should I read.

2nd Layout:

most comments are similar to those regarding first layout. but it seems that more people prefer the first layout, because the flow of it feels more like a  story.

A third option
(2nd attempt)

After showing my first twp layout to my classmates in class and listening to critics from them, I felt that the 3-column-layout maynot be a good choice here to organize all the small pieces of visualization I had made.

The main reason is: each piece of these visualizations contains many elements on itself. 3-column-layout makes the inforgraphic compact, or, a little bit overwhelming in my case.

Thus I decided to try a one column layout, with a 6-column grid to align elements within the infographic.

the infographic becomes distorted on this website when I present it in larger size. So I uploaded a larger version to google drive.

Critique Feedback

Feedback 1: the color scheme seems to be consistent/ except the two graphs under 2 and 3.

Feedback 2: this is easier to ready compare to multi-column layout.
