Solution to Homelessness?
(1st Iteration)

In the first Iteration, I created two versions:

1. a diagram that shows a loop of elements that creates homelessness and deteriorate the situation of homelessness. Solutions are given based on different part of the loop in order to end the loop.

2. a diagram aims at conceptually convey the idea: social support is an important part to solve the homeless problem in Seattle. (it may include people's love, respect and care for homeless people from the individual level. )

I adopted the color scheme used in my model infographic (same as other parts of my infographic), so that all parts of my infographic are presented in a consistent way.

Critique Feedback

First Diagram:

Feedback 1: the right line can be confusing. it is not obvious that it shows the way to stop the homeless cycle.

Feedback 2: Instead of using the metaphor of "cut", it can also be an enlightment of solutions (a bulb sign could be a good representation of this concept.)

Second Diagram:

Feedback 1: it would be great if the "Social Support" element is highlighted.

Feedback 2: The "Social Support" element is kind of outside the whole diagram, it might be clearer if there is a placeholder to show that it is the missing element, which creates the imbalance; two diagrams (before and after) could be helpful to clarify the concept.

Solution to Homelessness?
(2nd Iteration)

The main critic of the first diagram in my first iteration is confusion toward the red line.

The suggestion "replace the concept of cut with the concept of enlightment" is actually a good one. And lightbulb could be a good representation of "enlightment of solution". However, I am not sure whether the combination of lightbulb and loop diagram will be intuitive. Also the lightbulb may not fit well into the overall style of this infographic. It has the potential to add unnecessary complexity.

In order to clarify the meaning of the red line while limiting the negative visual impact of the explanation, I chose subtle color from my existing color scheme, and used relatively small font size for the explanatory texts.
